Raw Strawberry & Cream Shake & a Giveaway!

August 29, 2012

This creamy, raw, vegan strawberry shake will make you happy. You can eat it with a spoon like a thick yogurt or you can drink it like a beverage. And who doesn’t love options like that?

This shake has become one of my staple recipes. It’s a fantastic dessert, breakfast, or snack. The cashew milk base recipe (cashews, water, salt) has become my go-to with tea every morning.

If you have trouble digesting nuts, then you can soak these cashews before blending them. Soaking nuts removes the enzymes that block digestion. Don’t know how to soak nuts? Amber, from The Tasty Alternative has a great guide. Check it out here.

Mmmmm. This is so good. You’ll save yourself a lot of angst at this point if you just use a spoon. Trust me.

Raw Strawberry & Cream Shake
A creamy raw strawberry shake that tastes decadent. But could easily be a delicious and nutritious breakfast.
  • 1½ cups filtered water
  • 4-5 pitted & roughly chopped dates
  • ½ cup raw cashews
  • pinch Celtic Sea Salt
  • 1 tsp non-alcoholic vanilla extract
  • 2 cups frozen Strawberries
  1. Combine the water, cashews, and dates in a high speed blender
  2. Blend until creamy and smooth
  3. add the salt, vanilla, and strawberries
  4. Blend on high until creamy and smooth
  5. DRINK!

Don’t forget to tell me what you think about this episode in the comments! And please, share this episode widely and wildly. 🙂

About the Author ()

Lillian's Test Kitchen is an online cooking web series. The recipes in this series are always grain-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and cane sugar-free. The recipes are also all (at this point) paleo. Some are vegan. Some are raw. I use the best ingredients I can find (and afford). But Lillian's Test Kitchen is not so much about food as it is about the experience of trying something you have never tried before and then finding the joy, comedy and laughter in those small moments in spite of and also often, because of dietary restrictions. My goal is to inspire others to take their health into their own hands and make their own food.

  21. It looks really good, but…
I read that if you’re hypothyroid strawberries (and peaches) should be avoided. 🙁 So I avoid them most of the time.
I’d love to win the magazine. I liked their FB page, and I’m already following you everywhere.

  22. Alisa says:

This is one of my favorite smoothies too – but I use banana instead of dates. A bit of a banana freak 🙂
