Today I am grateful for protection.
Also known as good boundaries, living a protected life is both a skill and a gift.
I’m continually learning how much stimulation I can manage and still operate in an optimal way, how busy I can be and still feel like myself, how much alone time and how much intimacy I need in order to be my best self, and what kind of people I want in my life (spoiler alert: no meanies).
These things guide my choices about where I want to live, who my friends are, how I want to live and what’s important to me.
Learning what I need and more importantly learning how to learn what I need, because it changes as I change, has helped me make decisions and create more and more of the life I want. Because of my need for protection, I’m learning to say no, and because I can say no, I’m also getting better (and more skillful) at saying yes.
Which is awesome.
What’s your gratiTUDE today?
What is a “GratiTUDE”?:
GratiTUDE is a general attitude of thankfulness and gratefulness.
What is “What’s Your GratiTUDE?”:
Every day, for as long as I can keep it going, I’m going to tell you something I’m grateful for. I want to do this because I want to remind myself how fortunate I am in a more concrete way. They will be small things, big things, meaningful things, and seemingly inconsequential things. They may repeat on some days if I happen to feel grateful for the same thing more than once. I’m not planning it or mapping it out. I’m just feeling grateful, publicly. And I’d like you, if you’re feeling it, to do the same.
